At the heart, people and culture - reflections on the past year and the talent market

There was a buzz on the recruitment front, with the induction of 19 new Crasman team members fitting into the year. At the same time, we expanded our business without compromising on employee well-being. Last year at Crasman was quite something. How was everything done and what will happen this year? Pinja Kankare, responsible for personnel, sheds light on the topic.

In 2021, Crasman undertook a variety of internal and external projects, inducted new colleagues and expanded business across all fronts.

After Christmas, our wonderful group of 91 Crasman employees enjoyed extra paid holidays, a trend-setting Christmas gift last year. Often, the best thank you is the opportunity to pause and spend quality time with loved ones or engage in personally meaningful activities.

At Crasman, people stay for a long time

We are a community where people are valued for who they are - not just a stepping stone for enhancing a CV.

Crasman's low turnover rate, which has consistently been around 5-7% annually, speaks volumes. This is an aspect I am committed to maintaining rigorously.

Turnover and professional development are, of course, normal parts of working life, but often by listening to employees and tailoring work, we can retain those contemplating their growth. We strive to consider everyone as individuals.

In recruitment, we've also had to roll up our sleeves. In 2021, 19 new Crasman team members started. This is an astounding growth compared to previous years!

The year 2022 also promises good things, and there will likely be no slowdown on the recruitment front. We want to grow in a controlled manner. For us, it's important that in addition to quality induction, every new Crasman team member finds their place, gets to know their colleagues, and can influence workplace practices.

Navigating a growing Crasman requires skilful and proactive leadership

One of the key tasks this year is directing attention to our culture, people and leadership. We strive to provide first-class service in management roles, while supporting and sustaining the well-being of those who are involved in leadership tasks.

In a company like Crasman, where formal hierarchies or organisational structures are minimal, leadership is carried out largely through everyday interactions and conversations.

My team will also grow. The emphasis on an even better employee experience, quality leadership and first-class recruitment remains strong.

In the future, I will personally steer this work and leave the coordination of recruitment and administrative tasks to my skilled team members. I will impact as part of our management team and bring the personnel agenda to the table, working closely with our business.
