At the heart, people and culture - reflections on the past year and the talent market

Recruitment activity was buzzing, as the year included the onboarding of 19 new Crasman employees without compromising on employee wellbeing. Last year was quite something for Crasman. How was everything accomplished, and what will happen this year? Pinja Kankare, who is responsible for personnel, sheds light on the topic.

Crasman in 2021 undertook a variety of internal and external projects, onboarding new colleagues and growing the business on all fronts.

After Christmas, our wonderful group of 91 Crasman employees got a chance to relax with extra paid leave, which seemed to be last year’s trendiest Christmas gift. Often, the best thank you is the opportunity to take a break and spend leisure time with loved ones or engage in personally satisfying activities.

Crasman is a place where people stay happily and for a long time

We are a community that values individuals as they are - not just a place to get a line on a CV before moving on.

Our consistently low turnover rate, between 5-7% annually, tells its own story about Crasman. This is something I strive to maintain diligently.

Turnover and professional development are of course a normal part of working life, but often by listening to people and customizing jobs, we can retain individuals who are contemplating their growth. We strive to treat everyone as individuals.

We've also rolled up our sleeves in recruitment. During 2021, we onboarded 19 new Crasman employees. This is a phenomenal growth compared to previous years!

The year 2022 also promises good things, and it's unlikely that recruitment activity will subside. We aim to grow in a controlled manner. For us, it's important that in addition to quality onboarding, every new Crasman employee finds their place, gets to know their colleagues, and can influence workplace practices.

Steering the growing Crasman requires skilled and proactive leadership

One of this year’s most important tasks is directing attention to our culture, people, and leadership. We want to offer first-class service in supervisory work, without forgetting the support and wellbeing of those engaged in leadership.

In a company like Crasman, where formal hierarchies or organizational structures are minimal, leadership work is largely carried out through everyday interactions and discussions.

My own team will also be expanding. Focus on improving the employee experience, quality leadership, and exceptional recruitment will remain strong.

Moving forward, I will personally steer this activity and entrust the coordination of recruitment and administrative tasks to my skilled team members. I will be an active part of our management team, bringing a personnel agenda to the table and working closely with our business.
