A Brief Overview of Shopify's New Functionalities
Crasman took part in Shopify's partner days, providing us with a pleasant update on new functionalities. Here is a summary for all those interested in the topic.
Shopify B2B and D2C
The themes of business-to-business commerce and direct-to-consumer sales by manufacturers were strongly featured at the event. With Shopify, it is possible to manage both from the same store. Company information, catalogs, customised payment terms, customer relationships, and billing (B2B checkout) are already familiar Shopify features. New additions include, for instance:
Customer-specific product publishing
Checkout branding customization
Quantity rules
Quick order lists
Liquid customization on storefront
Volume pricing
Store contextualization
Payment and shipping customizations
Metafields for B2B buyers
Custom themes and templates
Order streamlining has also been enhanced with the following:A company can now have multiple locations
PO numbers
B2B discounts by customer segments
Payment reminders
Restricted access for sales representatives to view customer information.
Shopify Shop Pay
One key innovation is Shop Pay. It is an accelerated payment option allowing customers to save their email, credit card information, and shipping and billing details. This saves customers time at checkout, especially if they have already used Shop Pay at another Shopify store. If your online store offers local pick-up or delivery, the customer can select it at the payment stage using Shop Pay.
The customer needs to provide an email address at checkout to save their payment details. The customer's shipping and billing information is securely stored on Shopify's PCI-compliant server and shared with the store only if an order is placed.
Shopify POS
Shopify's point-of-sale system now has a UI Extension feature, enabling app developers to enhance the Shopify POS app. This allows for faster POS operations and integration with multi-channel returns, appointment booking, and loyalty applications.
