Quick Overview of Shopify's New Features

Crasman participated in Shopify's Partner Days, and we received a pleasant update on the new features. Here is a summary for all who are interested in the topic.

Shopify B2B and D2C

The themes of business-to-business trade and manufacturers' direct-to-consumer sales were prominently featured at the event. With Shopify, it is possible to manage both through the same store. Company information, catalogues, customised payment terms, client management, and billing (B2B checkout) are already known features of Shopify. Newly added are, for example:

  • Customer-specific product publishing

  • Checkout branding customisation

  • Quantity rules

  • Quick order lists

  • Liquid customisation on storefront

  • Volume pricing

  • Store contextualisation

  • Payment and shipping customisations

  • Metafields for B2B buyers

  • Custom themes and templates

Order streamlining has also been developed with the following:

  • A company can now have multiple locations

  • PO numbers

  • B2B discounts by customer segment

  • Payment reminders

Restricted rights for sales representatives to view customer data.

Shopify Shop Pay

One central innovation is Shop Pay. It is an accelerated payment option that allows customers to save their email address, credit card information, as well as delivery and billing information. This saves customers time at the checkout, especially if they have already enabled Shop Pay in any Shopify store. If your online store offers local pickup or delivery, the customer can select it at the payment stage using Shop Pay.

The customer must provide an email address at checkout to save their payment information. The customer's delivery and billing details are stored securely on Shopify's PCI-compliant server and are only shared with the store if an order is made.

Shopify POS

Shopify's point-of-sale system has introduced a UI Extension feature, allowing app developers to enhance the functionality of the Shopify POS app. It enables the acceleration of POS processes and integration with multichannel returns, appointment booking, and loyalty apps.
