Folder permissions

Folder permissions mean the visibility of a folder for each user or user group. A folder can be set to be visible for all user accounts or to be private to only those users with express permission to view it. A folder may also be shared as a link to a ZIP download.

A user group or a single user can be granted view, edit or admin permissions to a folder. Additionally, a user's or group's permissions to given features or functions can be denied on a per-folder basis. A folder can also be set to be invisible to a user or user group.

Folder permissions cannot exceed the permissions allowed by the user account's role.

Managing folder visibility

1. To set a folder's visibility, select the desired folder and click the Share toolbar button.

A folder's visibility setting can fall under one of four options:

Normal = The folder is visible to every user and user group that has access to the folder's parent folder or has express permission to view the folder.
Private = The folder is only visible to users and user groups with express permission to view the specific folder.
All organisation users = The folder is visible to all user accounts.
Public ZIP download = The folder's contents may be downloaded via a web link

4. Set the permission level selector to the desired level.

The permission level selector provides five different permission level options:

No access = Access to the folder and its contents is denied for the user or user group.
Inherit = The folder inherits any permissions set for the user or user group for the folder's parent folder.
View = The user or group has access to view and download the folder and its contents.
Edit = The user or group may view, edit, download, add and delete files in the folder.
Admin = The user or group has the widest range of permissions to interact with the folder and its contents.
